Local property taxes are assessed on a base of 100% true tax value...or approximately market value...current rates for adjacent townships available upon request. Local property taxes are assessed on the depreciated value of business personal property.  Most inventory that is destined for out of state shipment, including parts shipped to other Indiana locations that end up being shipped out of state, are exempt from property taxes.

County Adjusted Gross Income Tax equals 1.25% of Gross Payroll for property tax relief.
State sales tax of 6% on all retail sales - food products exempt.

The Bainbridge Fall Festival is held the first week in October. The Bainbridge Improvement Society has recently completed a new 8,000 square foot community building.  The city park hosts a baseball diamond and other amenities.  Big Walnut Nature Preserve is available nearby for low impact hiking.  Raccoon Lake State Recreation Area is approximately 14 miles west on US 36.  Six other state parks are within a one hour drive.  Two 18 hole public golf courses are located in the county.

DePauw University, in Greencastle, offers NCAA Division III men's and women's sports and a wide variety of cultural activities from art to theater.  The Putnam County Library is located in a recently enlarged facility in Greencastle.  The library provides bookmobile service to Bainbridge.  The Putnam County Playhouse is well known for its Summer Stock theater schedule.

Less than one hour away, Indianapolis hosts a wide range of amenities including the arts, concerts, museums, professional sports and theater.
