DePauw University is a private, selective, coeducational, residential liberal arts undergraduate institution founded in 1837.  The University boasts an academically strong study body of over 2,200, 230 faculty members distinguished in their fields, and outstanding campus facilities.  Current students represent 42 states, 1 U.S. territory and 23 foreign countries.
With 36 major buildings on the 655 acre campus, DePauw offers the latest in facilities and technology to meet the needs of today's students.  The campus includes a new 480 acre nature park, several new and expanded academic buildings, and recently expanded living facilities for students.  East College, built in 1877 and the focal point of the university, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

DePauw has nationally recognized programs in its College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and School of Music. The centerpiece of DePauw's academic programs is its nationally recognized competence program which seeks to ensure that students are certified in three areas:  writing, quantitative reasoning, and oral communication.  Twenty-two departments represent 47 potential majors and disciplines.  The curriculum is a traditional one with students choosing courses in six groups:  natural sciences and mathematics, social and behavioral sciences; natural sciences and mathematics, social and behavioral sciences; literature and the arts; historical and philosophical understanding; foreign language; and self expression.

Five Honors Programs at the University include Honor Scholars, Information Technology Associates Program, management Fellows, media Fellows, and Science Research Fellows.  Special learning opportunities are also available through Winter Term and International Study.

DePauw has been recognized by Standard and Poor's as 8th in the nation among 800 liberal arts colleges and universities as a source of top business executives.  DePauw is ranked 16th in the nation among private liberal arts colleges as the baccalaureate source for Ph.D. degrees in all fields.  U.S. News and World Reports ranks DePauw in the top tier of national liberal arts colleges.  In 2004, DePauw was ranked the 3rd "most wired" college campus in the United States by the Princeton Review.
